As part of the Plasticine Project Peter Dickinson, lead artist for Bath Riverside, invited the winners and families to visit the foundry where the work was to be cast. Jason Mitchell, the foundry owner, conducted the tour and explained the process of taking their plasticine models and transforming them into the cast bronzes. The young artists’ visit was before the final stages of patination and they were able to influence the colour that each piece would be given prior to installation. It was a freezing cold winter day, particularly as kilns were not in operation on the day of the visit. Many thanks to Jason who was generous with his time and explanations and made the visit fun as well as educational.
