Sam Cook

‘My research aims to understand the idea of landscape historically, using the body as context for such investigations. These enquiries evolve as documents or designed archives for human topographies and question how everyday structures store and translate information regarding the relationships between design, architecture, ecology and landscape.

For this exhibition and opportunity to work at the Pump House during the fringe festival I plan to exhibit new works that relate to both the function, history and location of the environment.  This body of work will underline parallels between industry and nature. Using the near by river to source natural materials I will attempt to re contextualise and regenerate themes that have been lost between the two spaces. I hope that during my time in the derelict space, the work will develop and take on new forms (as it dry’s and decays), ultimately leading to an exhibition of my research’
